Senator Adam Schiff may be facing renewed scrutiny after federal documents surfaced suggesting long-term misrepresentation in mortgage filings, allegations that former President Donald Trump has pointed to as grounds for prosecution.

According to information reported by Fox News, President Trump expressed that Schiff had been involved in fabricating loan documents to secure more favorable mortgage terms. The remarks followed a letter from the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) addressed to the Department of Justice in May, which outlined alleged falsifications concerning both bank documents and property records. The discrepancies are said to have spanned between 2003 and 2019 and involved a property in Potomac, Maryland.

The FHFA, which oversees institutions such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Bank System, identified what it described as a sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation tied to five Fannie Mae loans. One of the central claims raised involved Schiff’s reported designation of a Maryland property as his primary residence, despite serving as a California congressman, an inconsistency that may have enabled reduced mortgage rates.

The refinance of the Maryland home reportedly began in early 2009 and was allegedly misrepresented through multiple transactions until it was ultimately listed as a secondary home in October 2020.

While Schiff’s office reportedly did not issue a response to the allegations, public comments made earlier this month dismissed the claims as politically motivated. The Los Angeles Times, after reviewing the FHFA memo, noted that while questions were raised, no formal criminal accusations had been filed. It was further reported that both Schiff and his wife had designated separate properties in California and Maryland as primary residences at various intervals between 2009 and 2020.

On Capitol Hill, Schiff was approached for comment but offered no substantive reply, according to reports. In a video message later released online, the California Democrat attributed the resurfaced claims to what he described as political retaliation—linking the controversy to former President Trump’s criticism of him since the impeachment proceedings. The attempt, he argued, was viewed as a distraction from broader national discussions, including developments involving the Epstein investigation.

Shortly after Trump’s remarks, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard addressed the matter during an appearance on Fox News, stating that declassified intelligence had exposed significant efforts by former President Obama and top intelligence officials to fabricate the Trump–Russia narrative. Gabbard cited more than 100 declassified documents as evidence of what she referred to as a coordinated attempt to undermine the 2016 election results through politicized intelligence.

The former intelligence chief emphasized that the effort, involving senior figures such as James Comey, John Brennan, James Clapper, and Susan Rice, had aimed to manipulate public perception and interfere with the democratic process. As allegations surrounding Schiff continue to circulate, broader questions have been raised regarding past political narratives and whether key Democratic figures may eventually face legal consequences.
