A lady has admitted that her account of being sexually assaulted at an awards show after-party in 2000 by rappers Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs has contradictions. The woman said she was taken from Rochester, New York, to New York City for the MTV Video Music Awards, while her attorney is still investigating the allegations. Before her father picked her up following the alleged assault, she said that Combs’ limo driver volunteered to transport her to an after-party where she chatted with musicians Benji Madden and his brother.

Her father, however, had no memory of the drive home, and a Maddens spokesman confirmed that the family was on tour in the Midwest at the time of the VMAs. Furthermore, the buddy who supposedly drove the woman to the event has since died.

The woman had initially sued Combs for rape at the after-party and later amended the lawsuit to include Jay-Z, alleging that he also participated in the assault. Jay-Z’s legal team responded, claiming the lawsuit was false and accusing the woman’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, of filing the complaint for financial gain and fame.

Despite admitting to some mistakes in recalling the details, the woman maintains her allegations. This lawsuit is part of a broader series of sexual assault claims against Combs, who is currently in custody in New York, awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.

The woman claimed that after attending a party, she was asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement. Feeling woozy and lightheaded” from a drink, she went into a bedroom where she alleges that Combs, Jay-Z, and another celebrity assaulted her. She later escaped and went to a gas station to seek help

Jay-Z has filed a lawsuit against Buzbee, accusing him of attempting to blackmail the rapper by threatening to expose rape allegations. Buzbee, however, denies the blackmail accusation, clarifying that his letter was intended to initiate confidential mediation. Buzbee is still pursuing legal action on behalf of his clients, including more than 120 people who have accused Combs of sexual misconduct. Combs has entered a not-guilty plea and is awaiting trial in May on allegations of coercing and abusing women over the years.
