At an event at Madison Square Garden, former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) spoke to the crowd, asserting that voting for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris would effectively be supporting war. Gabbard, who switched parties last week after leaving the Democratic Party in 2022, began her speech by quoting the Declaration of Independence, highlighting the fact that we believe these facts to be self-evident, that all people are created equal, and that they have certain inalienable rights, such as the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, which are bestowed by their Creator.
She expressed concern over the current state of the nation, saying that as we gather here today on this historic occasion, we stand together as proud Americans in understanding that these very rights are under attack. Gabbard emphasized that the country was facing a critical juncture, with its freedom and future hanging in the balance. She remarked that the upcoming election presented an unparalleled choice for Americans, one that would determine the nation’s path toward peace, freedom, and prosperity.

Drawing from her 20 years of experience in the U.S. military, Gabbard emphasized that the issue of war was deeply personal to her. With three deployments to war zones, she reflected on the personal losses she had experienced and the sacrifices made by her fellow service members. The memories and sacrifices of those who paid the ultimate price were carried by Gabbard in her heart every day, underscoring the significance of the decision Americans would face in the upcoming election.

She went on to argue that the stakes of the election were not limited to those who had served in the military, but would affect the entire nation. Gabbard claimed that voting for Kamala Harris would be tantamount to voting for Dick Cheney, a vote for more war—possibly even World War Three and nuclear conflict. In contrast, she praised President-elect Donald Trump, asserting that casting a vote for him would be a vote for peace, pointing to his desire to end wars and his demonstrated strength in advocating for peaceful solutions.

Gabbard also addressed issues like border security, asserting that a vote for Harris would lead to open borders, heightening the risks posed by criminals and terrorists. She contrasted this with her support for Donald Trump, stating, that a vote for Donald Trump is a vote for secure borders and safe communities, underscoring Trump’s dedication to safeguarding the nation.
Nate Silver’s latest forecast on the 2024 election suggested that Trump had a 24.4% chance of winning all seven swing states, making it the most likely outcome. Meanwhile, Harris was shown to have a 15.6% chance of winning all battleground states, with her best chance of victory lying in securing Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. The model also indicated that Trump could win if the Republicans took all swing states except Nevada, which was predicted to go to Harris.

Polls show Trump leading in Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina, while Harris holds an advantage in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nevada. A FiveThirtyEight tracker indicates Trump is slightly ahead in Pennsylvania, although other trackers suggest the state is currently tied.
