Kari Lake, a former Arizona GOP Senate candidate, will be named the next director of the Voice of America (VOA) news agency, according to a Wednesday night announcement made by President-elect Donald Trump. Lake, who has worked as a news anchor for more than 20 years, will be accompanied by the newly appointed head of the U.S. Agency for Global Media and which is in charge of VOA while the international media organization and VOA are both funded by the government and answerable to Congress.

Trump said on Truth Social that he was excited about Lake’s selection and that she would make sure that American principles of liberty and freedom are properly and accurately portrayed around the world, in contrast to the claimed falsehoods propagated by the mainstream media, President-elect Donald Trump has also announced the nomination of Peter Lamelas who is a physician and businessman, as the U.S. Ambassador to Argentina, and Daniel Newlin, a former Florida sheriff investigator, as U.S. Ambassador to Colombia. Lamelas has a noteworthy background in public service and healthcare, having fled communist Cuba as a child.
