During a private meeting at the Hyatt Regency near the Capitol, Trump pledged full support for Johnson and other GOP leaders, including Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Majority Whip Tom Emmer. Urging unity, Trump encouraged the group to “stick together” for the coming legislative term.
A moment that drew applause from House Republicans saw Trump’s reiteration of his promise to execute the largest deportation operation in history. The atmosphere was also lightened by a joke about a potential fourth presidential run, with the suggestion being made that a statement, that he’s so good, that we’ve got to figure something out, and would be needed for him to run again.
