Supreme Court Just Took Up a Monumental Case

This Summer, the Supreme Court has already established a precedent that will go down in history. It has issued a significant number of rulings that have, in the process, restored rights to citizens as well as states.

However, it does not appear that they have finished yet. We’ve recently learned that they may soon change a policy that’s been in place for the past four decades and has put millions of students at a disadvantage. This news comes just as fall is starting to take shape.

This is very significant news. The United States Supreme Court is going to hear one of two cases that challenge the use of affirmative action in college admissions policies. For the past four decades, educational institutions have been mandated to take a student’s race into consideration when evaluating their application.

This regulation was enacted many years ago with the intention of preventing colleges from practicing discrimination against racial or ethnic minorities. However, in recent years it has come to light that many schools, including Harvard University, are more likely to give special treatment to students of color.

Even if doing so requires turning away other students who are academically more qualified, particularly Asian Americans, this must be the goal. In the workplace and in the schools, “quotas” were established because of affirmative action. Even if a school wanted to admit students based solely on merit, they were required to have a certain percentage of underrepresented groups in their student body, or else they risked being taken to court and having their doors slammed in their faces.

At long last, student activists have organized a movement to challenge this pattern of behavior. It is possible that the conservative wing of the court will rule that affirmative action is unconstitutional now that the issue is being considered by the court.

What does this imply for schools of higher education? You may rest guaranteed that colleges that lean far to the left will, in the name of their awakened agenda, continue to discriminate against deserving students.

However, students will have more power to sue schools that give the appearance of placing racial considerations ahead of merit. This will be an enormous victory for students from all walks of life and a significant setback for the agenda of the left. It is hardly surprising that the liberal elite would react strongly to this action, so you shouldn’t be surprised if it happens.
