Republican Senator Eric Schmitt of Missouri has called on the Biden administration to immediately halt the sale of border wall materials, which are being auctioned for a fraction of their original value. Schmitt argues that these actions undermine border security efforts and sabotage the incoming Trump administration.

In a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Schmitt criticized the Biden administration for selling materials at rock-bottom prices, citing a recent sale where 16,000 pounds of steel was auctioned for just $105. This represents less than 0.02% of taxpayer money originally invested in the materials.

Schmitt stated, accusing the administration of intentionally sabotaging President-elect Donald Trump’s plans to secure the border saying that those border wall materials will cost tens of thousands of U.S. taxpayer dollars to replace.

According to a Daily Wire investigative report, significant portions of unused border wall are being removed daily from sites in Nogales, Tucson, and Three Points, with an agent estimating that half a mile of materials is being moved each day. The goal, as reported, is to clear these materials before Christmas.

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has offered to purchase all the auctioned materials and provide them to the incoming Trump administration. During an appearance on Fox News, Patrick pledged Texas’s financial resources, stating that he’s got a billion dollars in his pocket… and they are gonna have about $6 billion in their budget for border security.
Patrick criticized the Biden administration, calling their actions despicable and accusing them of encouraging illegal immigration. He vowed to ensure that Texas supports efforts to secure the border under President-elect Trump’s leadership.

The sale of border wall materials has sparked outrage among conservatives, who view it as a deliberate attempt to thwart Trump’s border security initiatives. With record levels of illegal immigration under the Biden administration, this controversy underscores the deep divisions in how the U.S. government approaches border policy. As the incoming Trump administration prepares to take office, the future of border wall construction will likely remain a contentious issue.
