Phil Mickelson, a prominent LIV Golf star, recently shared his perspective on the Daniel Penny case in a post labeled as random thoughts on X. Mickelson, who appeared to be watching the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, began his post by praising broadcasters Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth for their commentary. He also recommended Day of the Jackal, describing it as an incredible show.

He continued by discussing the Penny case and expressing his hope that others in life-threatening situations would find someone similar to Penny. Daniel Penny became well-known in 2023 for his actions on a train in New York City when he intervened to prevent a man who was supposedly disturbed from endangering others. The event resulted in Jordan Neely being strangled to death, and Penny was accused of criminally negligent murder.

Following Penny’s exoneration, Mickelson took to X again to voice his support. He stated that the trial was unnecessary, describing Penny’s actions as selfless and protective. He also criticized those responsible for bringing charges against Penny, suggesting they should face accountability for their decisions. Mickelson further extended his gratitude to Penny, recognizing his military service and his efforts to safeguard passengers from what Mickelson described as a violent and deranged individual.
