Alzheimer’s disease has been characterized as the most common cause of dementia, according to the Mayo Clinic. The disease is linked to a biological process involving the buildup of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the brain. It was noted that an estimated 6.9 million Americans aged 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s, with 70 percent of cases occurring in those aged 75 and above.
