Trump Receives a Major Win From the Supreme Court

In a lawsuit involving steel tariffs, the administration of former President Joe Biden sided with the administration of former President Donald Trump, and the Supreme Court of the United States concurred with that decision. An appeal that was brought by USP Holdings and that was denied by lower courts, in which it alleged that the Trump administration behaved inappropriately when it enacted the tariffs, was not accepted for hearing by the Supreme Court of the United States.

The majority of the tariffs have been allowed to remain in place by the Biden administration, and they have fought against USP Holdings and other steel importers who have claimed that the duties have caused them financial harm.

Scott Paul claims that the Biden administration is aware that removing steel tariffs without a plan in place would likely result in layoffs and plant closures in states like Pennsylvania and Ohio, where the effects would be felt economically and politically.

It would appear that the Supreme Court is getting ready to hand down decisions during this term that might completely shift the course of climate change lawsuits. Boyden Gray, who served as counsel to the president during the Reagan administration and as White House counsel to President George H.W. Bush, detailed how federal courts are struggling to agree on whether climate change lawsuits are governed by state or federal law in an opinion piece he wrote for Fox News.

As a result, it is likely that the Supreme Court will decide for them. Gray went on to mention two further situations in which progressive states and towns are now pursuing lawsuits asking billions of dollars in compensation for damages that are supposedly tied to past, present, and future climate change. Gray cited these cases as examples.
