The House Republicans battle

Also, Javier Milei vs. everyone

For what seems like the first time in history, both Democrats and Republicans are focusing their political campaigns on the border crisis. Politicians and liberal people are turning against Biden and demanding an end to the mayhem.

These elements make it possible for Congress to find a bipartisan solution to this problem. But will the voters get the fix they desire from Congress? It appears that the answer is now no.

Everything you need to know

🏛 Judge orders Daniel Penny's trial to proceed. New York judges denied motions to dismiss Daniel Penny's chokehold case. A fall trial is scheduled for Penny's not-guilty plea. Penny choked Jordan Neely last year after he allegedly started acting irrationally and threatening subway riders. Penny was charged with second-degree manslaughter and negligible homicide after Neely died.

🦠 Chinese scientists created a 100% deadly COVID-19 mutation. To build a “model for understanding” COVID-related viruses, Chinese scientists altered a COVID-19 “cousin” virus. When injected into “humanized” mice, the virus killed 100%. Global experts slammed the measure as “madness.”

🤥 Biden misrepresents Texas as the cause of migrant drownings. After a mother and two children died trying to cross the Rio Grande, the U.S. government and mainstream media blamed Texas for preventing the Border Patrol's river access. Before the Texas National Guard was notified by the Mexican government, the migrants drowned.

⚕️ A myocarditis alert was developed by the CDC but not sent. A leaked email shows CDC authorities knew COVID mRNA vaccinations caused myocarditis. CDC officials discussed a draft alert to warn health officials but did not issue it. Why the CDC did not disclose about mRNA vaccinations is unclear. They were alert about the J&J vaccine and blood clots.

House Republicans battle Senate Republicans over border deal

Here is what's going on: House Republicans claim that the most recent Senate immigration reform proposal would encourage mass migration, thus they are objecting to it. The bipartisan border agreement brokered by Republican Senator James Lankford has been leaked, and GOP Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) is calling it a deal for illegal aliens, not for Americans.

  • In-depth: The agreement calls for a 5,000 daily cap on the number of immigrants admitted into the country, instant work permits for all undocumented immigrants freed from detention, taxpayer-funded legal representation, and a rise in the number of green cards by 50,000 per year.

Why it’s important: According to House Republicans, the agreement would accept about two million immigrants annually. After work permits were distributed, Americans would have to compete more for jobs, which would result in reduced pay and maybe job losses.

  • Bipartisan: The resources of the government are already being strained by the over 10 million illegal migrants who entered the country under Biden's administration. The public is becoming less and less supportive of illegal immigration, regardless of political affiliation.

  • However, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) stated that he would only approve a border agreement that mirrored the Secure the Border Act, a tough immigration law that would halt border wall construction, limit asylum requests, and cut funding to non-governmental organizations that support illegal immigration.

A new president, a new agreement? If Trump becomes president, some House Republicans may be ready to forego this agreement in favor of creating a "better" one. Republicans in the Senate, however, aren't so confident that waiting is worth the chance.

  • "Historic moment": House Republicans are being cautioned not to pass up this chance by Senator Lindsey Graham and Minority Whip John Thune, among others. "It is truly unprecedented to have this level of border security without providing a path to citizenship," Graham remarked.

Zoom out: Despite fears of illegal crossings by suspected terrorists, President Biden is sticking to his call for amnesty. As voters travel to the polls, the crisis brought on by Biden's open border policy emerges as a major concern for them and a point of weakness for Democrats.

GEOPOLITICS

Javier Milei vs. everyone

Here is what is going on: Javier Milei, the recently sworn president of Argentina, delivered a scathing address at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, aimed at Western politicians. He claimed that globalists and neo-Marxists who wanted to undermine Western civilization had "co-opted" them.

Milei quoted Ronald Reagan when he remarked, "Do not yield to the state's advance." The answer does not lie in the state. The state itself is the issue.

Catch up: Every year in Davos, the WEF organizes a conference that brings together influential figures from business and politics. The globalist organization attracted the attention of right-wing populists in 2016 with its Orwellian forecast that "you'll own nothing and you'll be happy" by 2030.

Proposals to outlaw "misinformation": In her speech, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen highlighted the necessity for large corporations to assist governments in preventing "misinformation and disinformation," referring to it as the "primary concern for the next two years."

In a paradoxical statement, Von der Leyen acknowledged that citizens of the European Union have "the right to speak [their] mind."

Why it’s important: With his strong support for free capitalism and his criticism of progressive concepts like collectivism and "radical feminism," Milei stood out from other Davos leaders, many of whom support globalist ideals.
