Free COVID tests will again be available

Here is what's going on: The U.S. government is restarting its program to send free COVID-19 tests to American homes. Starting September 25, households can order up to four free tests at COVIDTests.gov, usable until the end of the year. This initiative, supported by a $600 million investment, aims to boost U.S. test manufacturing, enhance preparedness for future pandemics, and create jobs.

It comes as COVID cases and hospitalizations are on the rise again, although still lower than earlier peaks. The government plans to continue providing tests to uninsured individuals and underserved communities. Dr. Marc Siegel, a medical expert, supports the move, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and the effectiveness of treatments like Paxlovid. Increased test availability can help control the spread of COVID.

🇬🇧 Rumble received a request from the UK government to demonetize Russell Brand. A committee chair from the British government contacted Rumble, the free speech alternative to YouTube, expressing concern that websites like theirs will continue to let Brand commercialize his content. Brand has already lost his YouTube monetization after claims of sexual assault, and sponsors are starting to stop working with him.

🔎 Investigations into Biden's conceivable transgressions during the 2020 campaign were impeded. A lawyer with political ties paid off Hunter Biden's tax bill, according to congressional investigators, and this may have involved "campaign finance criminal violations" on the part of Biden's 2020 campaign. Federal prosecutors prevented the agents who were looking into the potential offenses from moving forward. If verified, this follows the pattern of thwarted probes into the Biden family.

🕵️‍♂️ On January 6, the FBI lost count of how many paid informants were there and later had to conduct an audit to determine the precise number. There were informants from numerous field offices there, and during the Capitol breach, at least one of them spoke with their FBI agent. The FBI employed similar paid informants to stir up violence during riots in the summer of 2020.

🏛️ President Biden will reveal the establishment of a new bureau tasked with stopping gun violence. The initiatives will establish a centralized team in charge of coordinating federal and state gun control initiatives. Is Disney reversing its position on the LGBT controversy?

Here is what's going on: The entertainment giant will "quiet the noise" surrounding its involvement in a culture war with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Disney CEO Bob Iger said to investors on Tuesday. Although it is unclear how this will be done, Disney has announced plans to invest $60 billion in its theme parks over the next ten years.

How we ended up here: In 2022, former CEO Bob Chapek of Disney publicly opposed Florida's Parental Rights in Education Act, which forbids the teaching of sexual orientation and gender identity in K–-3 classes. This made Disney an opponent of DeSantis. Since then, Disney has pushed LGBT ideology with pride in their animated children's movies, original streaming series, and theme parks.

Record losses: As a result of its record losses, Disney has been experiencing a financial crisis. The corporation has already lost 15 million Disney+ users and over $900 million in Hollywood movie releases this year, and its stock price is continuing to plummet. Earlier this year, Disney cut over 7,000 jobs, including diversity officer positions.

The main reason: It is uncertain whether Disney's leadership will change its mind about its political mission or simply stop talking about social concerns, which is cause for concern. Disney, however, is battling to hold onto its reputation as a family-friendly company and win back parents after promoting left-wing propaganda. Iger wants to make sure that the Disney brand can bounce back from its failures and scandals.

For transitioning her as a teen, a woman in Nebraska has filed a lawsuit.

Here is what's going on: 21-year-old Luka Hein is suing medical experts in Nebraska for performing a double mastectomy on her and then giving her testosterone when she was a youngster. Her case is the fifth that has been made public in the United States against medical professionals who assist in pediatric medical transition.

How it happened: After her parents' divorce, Hein's mental health as a child deteriorated. Online sex abuse added to her trauma, making her suicidal and depressed. After a 55-minute interview, the clinic allegedly diagnosed her with gender dysphoria after she started to doubt her gender as a result of certain circumstances. Her parents were allegedly told by doctors that she would commit suicide if she didn't get "top surgery," despite the fact that she hadn't had suicidal thoughts in almost a year.

  • Their own rules are broken: Hein was still ineligible for surgery without following the unconventional World Professional Association for Transgender Health rules for at least a year.

Why it's important: According to growing data, it's typical for kids to undergo these potentially life-changing treatments without following protocol. Health professionals are urged to be as lenient and "gender-affirming" as possible in order to persuade parents that preventing their children from transitioning puts them at risk for suicidal thoughts (a narrative that is not supported by the evidence).

Right now: Hein claims that the hormones and surgery have deepened her voice, altered her reproductive system, and perhaps sterilized her. Early this year, Nebraska limited sex modifications for minors, and lawsuits like Hein's further the backlash across the country.
