❗️25 states currently back Texas. Twenty-five other governors have endorsed Texas Governor Greg Abbott's plan to strengthen the border with wire; as a result, the majority of states are now against the federal government in this border conflict. The governors, who are all Republicans, issued a statement acknowledging that Texas has the right to protect itself from an influx of migrants after the Biden administration abandoned "its constitutional compact duties to the states."

🏳‍🌈 28% Of Generation Z identify as LGBT. According to a recent survey, over 25% of Generation Z, or people between the ages of 18 and 25, identify as non-straight. Of those who do, the majority (15%) describe themselves as bisexual. Merely 5% of respondents identified as homosexual, whereas 8% selected "something else."

📵 Florida is thinking of prohibiting underage use of social media. A law that would prohibit minors under the age of 16 from opening accounts on social networking sites that are "addictive, harmful" or have "deceptive design features" was approved by the Florida House. Additionally, third-party age verification would be necessary. The law, according to social media corporations, was unduly ambiguous. In Utah, a similar bill was approved.

👀 Utah breaks down DEI. A law that would destroy DEI initiatives in Utah's government and schools is nearing completion in the legislature. When the measure gets to Governor Spencer Cox's desk, he has stated that he will sign it. The Senate also approved a law at the same time that forbade men from using women's restrooms and vice versa.

🪖 A senator is proposing changes to the Insurrection Act. Presidents may employ the armed forces to reestablish law and order in the United States under the terms of the Insurrection Act. However, Senator Richard Blumenthal seeks to restrict that authority, arguing that if Donald Trump wins reelection to the presidency, he might abuse it. He hasn't said exactly what he would do, but he would likely clarify the meaning of an insurrection.

The Democrats are tracking what you buy every day

Here is what’s going on: Federal investigators ordered banks to keep an eye on customer purchases based on political and religious beliefs as part of their probe into the Capitol incident on January 6. This raised concerns about the extent of government surveillance.

  • Important: During the Trump administration, the surveillance instruction was issued a few days before President Joe Biden's inauguration. Emails between federal officials, however, claim that it was a part of the counterterrorism measures for "Inauguration Day and beyond."

  • Additionally, Fox News was later able to receive a secret letter from the House Judiciary Committee that initially disclosed the information.

The specifics: Investigators requested that banks block transactions including phrases like "MAGA" and "Trump." Transactions involving books and religious texts that the Federal Bureau of Investigations claims include "extremist views" were also identified, as were transactions that occurred at Dick's Sporting Goods and Bass Pro Shop.

  • Unreviewed? The banks were not given any particular time limits or restrictions on how long they could use those criteria to search through customer transactions.

The problem: According to U.S. Congressman Jim Jordan, investigators might have used the concept of "protected political and religious expression" to determine who they deemed questionable.

  • Alternatively, the Feds weren't going after specific people. Instead, they were searching through a ton of generic data tremendous identify possible candidates.

Why it’s important: When reasonably common political beliefs are seen as adequate justification for looking into regular people, public confidence in the federal government is eroded. This is especially true if one side is the focus of the investigation.

🏛 WASHINGTON D.C

Was marijuana legalized too soon in America?

Here is what's going on: The Biden administration classifies marijuana as low-risk despite studies that it has a high correlation with mental illnesses including schizophrenia and psychosis.

  • Fewer restrictions: The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services suggested easing federal limits on the substance in a ground-breaking analysis that sent cannabis stock values skyrocketing by 23 percent. As the number of marijuana-related mental illnesses rises, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is expected to accept the categorization of marijuana.

  • New research indicates that there is a 47 percent likelihood of developing schizophrenia or bipolar disorder after even one psychotic episode after cannabis use. Compared to products accessible thirty years ago, marijuana sold now can have twenty times the amount of THC, which has led to an increase in hospital visits and psychoses associated with cannabis use.

Big Marijuana: As the industry pushed for legalization and promoted recreational use, marijuana lobbying exploded during the past ten years.

  • According to the data, the sector spent $35k in 2013 and over $6 million in total by 2022 lobbying lawmakers. 24 states and Washington, D.C. have legalized cannabis for recreational use by adults as a consequence of lobbying efforts, and the marijuana market is currently valued at an estimated $33.84 billion.

  • No turning back: Despite the drug's hazards, banning it is unlikely due to the financial interests of the marijuana lobby and the industry's growing market. Marijuana advertising on social media sites is also sharply rising.

  • The marijuana vote: In line with the views of 68 percent of Americans who favor legalization, President Biden has made marijuana reform a major campaign platform issue.

Why it’s important: There are concerns that the Biden administration's support of a medication that has strong connections to mental illnesses may make the country's current mental health problem worse. Should this regulatory change be allowed, it is likely to immediately have a cascading effect on cannabis accreditation worldwide, so obscuring European health concerns.
