She described the incident as a physical altercation, revealing that her wrist was treated with a brace and ice following the attack. Despite the violence, Mace remained defiant, stating that such threats would only strengthen her resolve. She urged her supporters to Hold the Line, emphasizing that this would not deter her from continuing her work.

The event occurs amid continuing controversy regarding Mace’s contentious bill that would mandate that members of Congress use the restroom that corresponds to their biological sex. LGBTQ activists have harassed Mace since she introduced the measure, leaving posters and stickers at her workplace.
