President-elect Donald Trump criticized the Biden administration for attempting to sell border wall materials at a significant loss, accusing it of attempting to undermine efforts to secure the border. Trump claimed that the materials are being sold for “five cents on the dollar,” despite their actual value, and warned that this would result in wasted taxpayer money, as rebuilding the wall would cost far more.

Trump described the administration’s actions as almost a criminal act, arguing that the materials are essential for border security, and if they are sold off cheaply, it would force the next administration to spend millions more to acquire new materials. He emphasized that the sale of these materials would only increase costs and delay border security efforts.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick weighed in, revealing that he had been informed by the Texas Facilities Commission that much of the material for sale is in poor condition, including panels covered in concrete and rust. He added that while some usable panels might exist, they are not worth the shipping costs from Arizona. Patrick suggested the sale was a political move to appease the left-wing open border crowd, but assured that if any panels were economically viable, Texas would purchase them and return them to Trump once he takes office.
