Republican Senator Chuck Grassley voiced his support on Monday for Kash Patel to replace Christopher Wray as the FBI director. This endorsement came following a meeting between Grassley and Patel, during which they discussed issues related to transparency within the bureau.

President-elect Donald Trump recently nominated Patel for the position, despite Wray still holding a 10-year term set to expire in 2027. Wray has not publicly indicated whether he intends to step down for Trump’s second term.

Grassley emphasized Patel’s commitment to transparency, cooperation with Congress, and whistleblower protection—areas where he accused Wray of falling short. In a statement released on Monday, Grassley criticized the lack of transparency at the FBI, stating that the principle of openness had been disregarded at the bureau’s highest levels.
