Former President Donald Trump has received a significant endorsement from Michael Harry-O Harris, the co-founder of Death Row Records, a major name in the rap music industry. Harris, who Trump granted clemency during his presidency, praised the former president for his actions and commitment to addressing issues important to the Black community.

In an interview with Fox News, Harris emphasized Trump’s “track record” of enacting policies rather than making empty promises. He highlighted several initiatives from Trump’s presidency that he believes have positively impacted the community, including permanent funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), the First Step Act aimed at criminal justice reform, legislation to combat sickle cell anemia, and the establishment of opportunity zones to encourage investment in low-income areas.

Harris noted that people in his community feel more confident in Trump’s ability to keep his word compared to the current administration, which he accused of not adequately focusing on the needs of the Black community. He stated that there’s nothing to refer to of substance that the current administration has done to elevate their community, leading him to back Trump.

When questioned about Vice President Kamala Harris’s challenges in securing support from Black voters, Harris expressed that many people underestimate the intelligence of the Black community. He argued that many voters prioritize reality over party affiliation, citing rising costs of living, including grocery and gas prices, as critical issues affecting their lives. He asserted that simplistic appeals to vote for a candidate just because are no longer effective and may even be insulting.

Harris also shared his personal story of transformation after receiving clemency from Trump. He had requested clemency twice under former President Obama without success, but Trump’s decision to grant him relief profoundly impacted his life and family.

He recounted a conversation with Trump shortly after his release, where the former president encouraged him to be successful and acknowledged his commendable efforts while incarcerated.
