Blackburn said she supported Donald Trump’s larger program and that states will be crucial to keeping it moving forward, alluding to the early months of his presidency. She expressed in her statement that, should she be elected governor, she would continue to manage Tennessee conservatively. The primary battle in Tennessee is scheduled for August 6, 2026, according to her campaign. The incumbent governor, Republican Bill Lee, will not be able to seek for office again due to term constraints.

Blackburn has recently attracted media attention for her commentary on the declassification of intelligence documents related to the Russia investigation. During a televised interview, she highlighted findings tied to the Durham report, which questioned the basis of the initial Trump-Russia collusion narrative. The declassified materials, released under the direction of Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, were cited by Blackburn as evidence of political maneuvering during the 2016 election cycle.

In the discussion, Blackburn referenced details involving the FBI and CIA, suggesting that officials within the Obama administration had been briefed about a strategy allegedly developed by Hillary Clinton’s campaign to associate Trump with Russia as a distraction from controversies involving her email server.

She also voiced concerns over what she described as misuse of federal institutions, arguing that those found responsible for such actions should be held legally accountable. According to Blackburn, certain federal officials had prioritized political outcomes over impartial justice, which she believed undermined public trust.

The senator emphasized the need for accountability within federal agencies and called for protective measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future. She also speculated that forthcoming statements from whistleblowers within the FBI could further shed light on the matter.
