DOJ Inspector General Rocked by New Investigation

Since the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has been subjected to a significant amount of criticism. Many people have leveled the accusation that the government is carrying out an operation that was either pointless or motivated by politics.

Even though the Department of Justice has just made public photographs of the documents that were confiscated, they are still experiencing opposition from a variety of quarters. To add insult to injury, this includes yet another major scandal involving a prominent member of the GOP.

Now, Republicans have initiated a brand new inquiry of Michael Horowitz, who is the Inspector General of the Justice Department. This comes after reports that his office was directly involved in examining evidence seized from Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA).

At the beginning of this month, the FBI handed Perry a search warrant for his cellphone despite the fact that he is the chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus. This was done as part of a federal investigation that was looking into allegations of people trying to sway the results of the 2020 election. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), on the other hand, has given a response by sending a letter with a demand that is forcefully worded.

Because the OIG is investigating the acts of his own agency, Jordan claims there is a “severe conflict of interest” involved. It should come as no surprise that this gives Republicans in the House reason for alarm. Rep. Jordan has issued a demand to have Horowitz hand over any pertinent records and communications, in addition to a comprehensive assessment of the investigation into Perry’s phone.

Once again, Republicans have a significant issue with the way in which this federal institution goes about its daily operations. And many people in the country have the impression that President Biden’s Department of Justice is going for the Party itself, not simply Donald Trump. Rep. Perry expressed his displeasure that the DOJ “made no attempt” to get in touch with his attorney. If they did, they would have made sure that they could use the phone at all times.

But as things are, they have merely taken possession of it. And Perry claims that the phone contains information about my legislative and political activity in addition to personal/private chats with members of his family and close friends.

He concluded his remarks by stating that “none of this is the responsibility of the government. It is very possible that a large number of constituents will agree with Representative Perry on this topic. As a result of the raid on the Trump campaign headquarters, measures taken by the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation will undoubtedly be scrutinized.
